Garden romance

Romantic gardens are idyllic places full of surprises. Closing the wooden door, you leave everyday life behind and enter a place to enjoy and linger. A stream gently burbles, birds chirp, and the scents of flowers enchant our senses.

Delicate and surprising

It hides its secrets and continually offers new surprises. Nothing is immediately obvious: straight lines and shapes, as well as symmetrical flowerbeds, are completely dispensed with. Everything is geared towards lightness, delicacy, and dreaminess. With attention to detail and decorative elements, a garden becomes a romantic hideaway. Adorable disorder is welcome. Bare earth between the plants spoils the romantic impression, so it's important to create an illusion of lushness and abundance with plenty of plants. The undulating plants blend with curved paths to create an enchanting picture.

Play of light and shadow

A key design feature is the avoidance of harsh light and the play with shadows. Moving patches of light and shadow can be found beneath vine-covered pergolas, leafy walkways, and deciduous trees. The interplay of light and shadow transforms the garden into a breathtaking backdrop. Contours blur, creating dramatic effects. One moment, the flowering masterwort glows; the next, the leaves of the hosta are luminous. For a brief moment, a ray of sunlight creates the illusion of sitting in a forest clearing. At the same time, pergolas with overhanging vines and trees with drooping crowns offer shelter and a place of retreat.

The right choice of flowers

The choice of flowers also has a major influence on the mood of the garden. Garish color combinations are avoided; delicate, pastel blooms captivate the viewer with their variety. Plant whatever you like, as long as it's lush. Flowers in shades of blue, violet, pink, and white convey a tender mood. In addition to various rose varieties, other fragrant plants and herbs growing wild next to each other belong in a romantic garden. Peonies, bluebells, delphiniums, hydrangeas, and catnip feel just as at home as nostalgic flowers such as columbines and masterwort. Fine grasses swaying in the breeze also provide the perfect foundation for the garden.

Further stylistic elements

With seating areas, pavilions, arbors, and hidden, secluded corners, romantic gardens possess a mysterious atmosphere. This is further enhanced by scents and sounds. Occasionally, the scent of roses, lavender, or night violets wafts across the air, while water ripples discreetly in the background. Columns and sculptures are also popular elements. Trellises and arches, with climbing roses, clematis, knotweed, or Virginia creeper, complete the idyll.
