Look:
The blackbird is arguably one of the most well-known garden birds. Male blackbirds are black with a yellow beak. The plumage and beak of females and young birds, on the other hand, are a simple dark brown, sometimes with light speckles on the breast.
Agree:
Everyone has surely heard the melodious and full-throated song of the blackbird. It consists of short, yet highly varied verses. They mostly consist of clear, soft flute tones, occasionally with a more ornate and generally quiet delivery. The males prefer to perch high up, such as a rooftop or antenna, during their serenade. Their repertoire includes a variety of warning calls, such as a thin, high-pitched "tsiih."
Happen:
Blackbirds originally came from forests and only settled in the gardens of villages and towns about 150 years ago. Wood blackbirds are considerably more shy than their urban relatives. Many of them migrate to warmer climates in the fall, while most urban blackbirds always find enough food here in winter, too.
Lifestyle/Behavior:
The females usually begin nest building as early as March. They spare no effort in doing so. They first line the deep nest hollow with moist soil, then add the final layer of fine fibers. Even before the young birds are fully independent, the female begins building a new nest for the next brood and raising it. This is why blackbirds usually breed three times a year.
Food/Feeding:
Blackbirds forage primarily on the ground, preferably in short vegetation. Their diet includes earthworms and, later in the year, various berries.
