Japanese lavender heather (Pieris japonica)
The Japanese lavender heather appears much more delicate than others of its species. Especially as it matures, it rewards every garden enthusiast with its picturesque growth, which appears very natural and combines well with grasses and other evergreen plants.

Growth form:
The shrub's irregular branch arrangement lends it a very loose appearance. Slightly overhanging branches visually diminish the otherwise upright and broad growth, which reaches two to three meters in height and width.
Leaf and flower:
The small, white flowers are loosely arranged in overhanging panicles and display their beauty from late March to May. The evergreen leaves are alternately arranged and adorn the flowerbed with a vibrant, glossy green, which may be slightly lighter underneath.

Site requirements/care measures:
A sheltered spot with partial shade to shade is ideal. The soil should not be too nutrient-rich, but humus-rich and permeable so it can survive the winter.
Varieties:
'Carneval': white flowers, red leaves when emerging, which develop into dark green with a creamy white border
'Debutante': pure white flowers, matt glossy leaves
'Mountain Fire': strong red bud in winter, later white flowers, leaves in the shoot in a shiny brown
