Magnificent candle (Gaura lindheimeri)
The evening primrose belongs to the evening primrose family and is an elegant perennial for sunny spots in your home garden. Whether in gravel beds, sunny perennial borders, as a container plant on the patio, or on balconies, the evening primrose cuts a fine figure everywhere.

Growth form
This bushy, clump-forming perennial has slender, delicate, upright stems that arch slightly. Its leaves are lanceolate, serrated, and approximately 8 cm across. The lily of the valley reaches a maximum height of 150 cm and spreads to approximately 90 cm.

The flowering period of the primrose begins in June and extends into October, sometimes even into the first frost. The small, butterfly-like, pinkish-white flowers hang in loose panicles from the graceful stems. Each bloom lasts only one day, during which time they change color from white to a light pink.
Location requirements
The primrose prefers a full-sun location in fertile, moderately moist, and well-drained soil. Six plants are needed per square meter.
Care
This perennial bloomer is an uncomplicated and easy-care, completely undemanding garden plant. It only doesn't tolerate waterlogging very well.

'Whirling Butterflies': It reaches a height of between 60 and 75 cm. Its flowers are pink-red.
'Corrie's Gold': This variety grows to 150 cm tall. Its white flowers are complemented by long, green leaves with golden edges.
'Gambit Rose': It blooms profusely and remains rather compact in its growth habit. The flowers of this variety are a bright, radiant pink.
