DIY cyanotype kit
If you like to experiment or have always dreamed of creating your own unique art prints, then the cyanotype kit is perfect for you! It contains everything you need to create your own stunning blue mini works of art at home using the cyanotype technique, which uses only the sun and small leaves or plants. You can use either the paper included in the kit or your own paper or fabrics made from natural fibers, such as cotton or silk.
Cyanotype was discovered in 1842 and is one of the oldest photographic processes. Until the 20th century, this photographic printing technique was used by artists and photographers, as well as engineers, as a cost-effective method for reproducing documents, photographs, maps, or technical drawings. The British natural scientist Anna Atkins popularized this technique through her books, in which she documented ferns and other plants using blueprints.
The set contains:
• 200 ml cyanotype emulsion in powder form (just add water; once mixed, each bottle can be stored for about a year)
• A contact frame made of glass
• 24 sheets of assorted paper with different textures
• Foam brush
• Measuring cup and a mixing cup
• Disposable gloves
• Detailed instructions
• Each set also includes a sample print of a cyanotype made by Botania.
