Bissenbrook Farm
Hof Bissenbrook, the rural, idyllic estate south of Neumünster, not only offers garden festivals but also looks back on a long history. Bissenbrook was first mentioned in the Großenaspe land register as early as 1606, with the name derived from the Low German words "Bissen" (birch) and "Brook" (brood).

The prominent owners were the Westfahlen brothers, who acquired Bissenbrook in 1866. The younger brother, the famous painter August Westfahlen, was known in the neighboring village of Großenaspe simply as "Kunst-August." Many of his beautiful landscape paintings and portraits were created in Bissenbrook and the surrounding area. In 1974, Bissenbrook passed into the possession of the Haase family and is now managed by the family of their daughter, Katja Hildebrandt. The green space and the stunning linden avenue were designed 45 years ago by landscape architect Günther Schulze and realized with the assistance of the traditional Lorenz von Ehren tree nursery. In addition to keeping horses, the farm also practices agriculture and flower growing.
The popular “Garden Magic” garden exhibitions take place in spring and autumn and have delighted thousands of visitors for over 20 years.
