Dahlia Happening 2024

During the event, we will open the Bissenbrook Flower Farm exclusively for our visitors.
The farm specializes in growing rare varieties and breeding new beauties.
Over 7,000 dahlia plants in more than 100 different varieties transformed this area into a colorful sea of ​​flowers – an absolute must for all dahlia fans and flower lovers.

A special highlight at the flower farm is our field of dahlia seedlings, of which we planted approximately 2,500 in the spring. The creation of new dahlia varieties from seed is a fascinating process, made possible by natural pollination or selective cross-breeding. Dahlias are genetically highly variable, meaning that new and often unpredictable varieties can continually emerge from seed.

The seedlings will begin flowering within the first year after sowing. Most of these new plants will not look exactly like their parents, which makes this process particularly exciting. Some of these new varieties may have exceptional traits that make them potential new cultivars. This has created a sea of ​​flower possibilities on our farm.

But the queen of late summer flowers is not only the focus at the flower farm – on the exhibition grounds, decorations and special features relating to the dahlia are also waiting to be discovered and experienced.
