Chard 'Bright Lights' is an attractive addition to the vegetable garden. Its stems feature a beautiful array of yellow, red, and white, while the leaves are green with colorful veins. The leaves can be prepared similarly to spinach, and the colorful stems are ideal for steaming or asparagus-like dishes.

Growing tips:
Swiss chard requires a relatively large amount of water, and it needs to be applied evenly. This is the only way to keep its leaf stems tender. Make sure you choose deep, humus-rich soil. It has similar requirements to beets, but the soil doesn't need to be loosened as deeply. To ensure a consistent harvest, you can replant Swiss chard at regular intervals. Make sure you leave enough space between the plants to allow for healthy growth.

Good neighbors: carrots, lettuce, onions, kohlrabi and tomatoes
Bad neighbors: spinach, fennel, celery

Enjoy the freshly harvested leaves in salads, soups or as a side dish to other dishes.
