Large-flowered Orlaya - Orlaya grandiflora
The annual large-flowered iris impresses with its dainty, airy white flowers, which are produced in abundance. After flowering, the green seed heads with their star-shaped pods are just as attractive for use in bouquets. The more the plant is pruned, the more new flowers it produces.

Growing tips :
The large-flowered cypress is one of the so-called cool flowers (cold germinators). A two- to three-week cool period at the beginning of sowing has a positive effect on germination. The seeds can be started early from February to May and planted outdoors from the end of May. They can also be sown directly outdoors from April onwards. Cover with moist soil to a maximum depth of the seeds.
Dead flowers should be removed regularly to encourage new blooms.

Cut flower :
The rayed broadleaf should be harvested when the flowers are half to fully open. If harvested much earlier, the stems tend to wilt. They will last for 7 to 10 days in a vase. The flowers are also suitable for drying.
