Zinnia - Zinnia elegans 'Queen Red Lime'
The 'Queen Red Lime' Zinnias have pale red petals that fade to lime green toward the center. The center itself is a deep chestnut brown. These annuals prefer a sunny to partially shaded, sheltered location and bloom throughout the season. They can be started early in pots indoors or sown directly outdoors from mid to late April.
Zinnias are not only pretty to look at, but also important sources of nectar for our beneficial insects!
Details :
Sowing indoors/greenhouse: February to May
Sowing outdoors: From April to May
Sowing depth: 0.5 cm
Germination time: 7-14 days
Height: 75 cm
Planting distance: 30 cm
Flowering time: June to October

Growing tips :
The pre-grown plants should not be planted outdoors until after the last frost. Regular pruning promotes growth and can extend the flowering window. With regular watering, zinnias are easy-care plants. Once the plants are about 15 to 20 cm tall, they can be pinched, meaning the main stem is shortened. This will make the zinnias bushier and produce more flowers.
Use :
cut flower
Food for insects
Cut flower :
Zinnias should only be pruned when the stem is stable and strong enough to support the bloom. Grasp the stem 20 cm below the bloom and shake it gently. If the stem is limp or bends sharply, it's not ready for pruning. If it remains upright, it's ready to harvest.
Zinnias can last up to a week in a vase if the water is changed regularly.
