Foxtail millet - Setaria italica 'Highlander'
The robust foxtail millet 'Highlander' is an annual variety with green foliage and green-brown, foxtail-shaped flower heads. The panicles emerge from the top of the stem and gradually bend over as they grow, then open further. This ornamental millet is suitable for planting in the garden or in containers, is very drought-tolerant, and loves full sun. Overall, it requires little maintenance. They make great cut flowers, and their seeds are very nutritious for birds. Allowing the seed heads to ripen in late summer will attract many wildlife species to the garden.

Cut flower :
Ornamental millet is beautiful in all stages, but as a cut flower it is easier to incorporate into bouquets before the panicles bend too much.
They can also be dried and make interesting main or secondary flowers in dried flower arrangements. To do this, cut the stems at the base before seed heads form. When dried, their color lasts for months.
