Growing tips :
Sunflowers can be pre-grown starting in March or directly sown starting in mid-April. We recommend pre-grown seeds, as they are very popular with birds and snails.
We've had excellent results by soaking the seeds in water for 24 hours before sowing. This softens the hard seed coat and facilitates germination. After soaking, the seeds should be thoroughly rinsed and then planted.
Once the small plants are planted in mid-May, they should be watered regularly. Depending on where they are planted, they may need support.
Cut flower :
Sunflowers are best cut early in the morning and placed in boiling water for a maximum of five seconds. This will kill the stems and make them last significantly longer. The water for the vase should be lukewarm and changed daily.
