The purple coneflower is one of the so-called cool flowers (cold germinators). A two- to three-week cool period at the beginning of sowing has a positive effect on germination. The seeds can be started early from March to May and planted outdoors from the end of May. They can also be sown directly outdoors from April onwards. Cover with moist soil to a maximum depth of the seeds. It often does not bloom until the second year.
